Pala is a blessed town although it is small.Its inhabitants are pious and prosperous Catholics.has got so many churches,monasteries,seminaries,pilgrim centers and the Shrine of the First Women Catholic Saint from India-St.Alphonsa of the Immaculate Conception.Pala has two more candidates to sainthood -Blessed Kunjachan and Blessed Kadalikattil Mathai Achan.St.Mary's Church of Lalam , Pala is one the most important and ancient pilgrim centers in central Kerala.  The devotion of People of Pala for Our Lady is famous and The Holy Mother's Intercession has achieved many blessings of The Almighty for the people of Pala..The Novena of Our Lady at Lalam Old Church on all saturdays is a boon and blessing for the numerous devotees. Pala Jubilee Thirunnal-The Fest Of Pala

Now a days Pala was in a festive mood.People were celebrating the feast of Mother Mary -The Divine Mother of Jesus Christ who sacrificed his life for the redumption of mankind.The Jubilee Feast was celebrated on 8th December with many rituals.Petals of flowers were showering from a plane as Mother Mary is pouring her blessings towards the people of Pala.It was really a wonderful scene.Two Wheeler Fancy Dress contest and Tableu contest were held in connection with the feast.Natives of Pala living all around the world should be proud of this wonderful feast and recollect its sweet memories with a nostalgic mind.

Pala-Bypass Road-The Fullfillment Of A Longtime Dream

Pala town is  experiencing traffic congestion for a long time.The authorities were planning to findout a solution for this problem and at last determined to construct a bypass road to the town.On 23rd November it was commisioned by Honourable  Chief minister  Oommen Chandy.Hope that the road is   likely to significantly reduce traffic congestion in Pala town.This is a one kilometer road built at a cost of Rs.12 crore.It took nearly two years for completion.The bypass extends fromKizhathadiyoor along the Thodupuzha road to the Civil Station along the Ramapuram road.It's width is 22 meters.This four-lane bypass is supposed to be the widest bridge in the district.This well planned bypass road is really a pride for Pala.

Pala Civil Service Institute

 Situated on the banks of Meenachil River Pala still stands very proudly and looks the world very enthusiastically.Although majority of its natives are planters and businessmen,all are well educated and are aware of the importance of good education and tries their best to educate their children and thereby make them good citizons.For the well being of intelligent students  a civil service institute is started in Pala.It was founded in January 1998 sponsored by The Archdiocese of Changanassery and the Diocese of Pala  and Kanjirappally as a part of the Inter-diocesan Centre for Human Resources Development.This institute's aim is to improve the carrier prospects of the youth whose aim is high-ranking civil service placement but cannot afford the expensive coachbing.The institute aims at providing top quality training at the lowest possible cost.This institute is also a carrier centre too.It provides information on job opportunities to job-seekers and conducts job specific coaching programmes.The institute is situated in a calm and quite atmosphere at the eastern edge of St.Thomas College Pala campus and hope it will become the pride of Pala.

Bharananganam-The Lisieu Of India


   Bharananganam,the holy city is an important pilgrimcentre in South India.It is located in the banks of Meenachil river and is 5km east of Pala in Kottayam district in Kerala state.Its surroundings are enriched with beautiful scenaries because of nearby hilly areas and abundance of vegetation.This small town is known as the Lisieu of India because St.Alphonsa,the first saint of India was lived in the nunnary which was situated in  Bharananganam and breathed her last.She suffered a lot for the sake of Jesus Christ,her Heavenly Groom.St.Alphonsa led a saintly life and was considered as a saintly person during her lifetime.She belived that she must suffer all things that tests her will and offer them to the Lord.It is a truth that inspite of her painful diseases she was cheerful to the last.After her death,many miracles were happened and that led to her Sainthood and thus Bharananganam became the Lisieu of India.

Pala is an ancient and beautiful municipal Town in Kerala.Since Pala is one of the main educational centre of the state,it is a well-known town.Natives of Pala are residing everywhere in Kerala and all around the world since people of Pala are known as educated and are worthy planters.Pala is also known as "The Honey And Milk Flowing Land"because of its prosperity.Although Pala is considered as a well-developed area now a days it is like an undeveloped area.Because of poor transportation many of the natives of Pala are residing in different towns due to poor transportation.Lack of  water and traffic block are two other important development problems of Pala.Bharananganam,the most important pilgrim centre in India and Kadappattoor Temple are the main attractions of this town.People from different parts of the world are visiting these places daily and there is the possibility of improving trades and businesses of this town.Making of Pala railway station through Sabari railway line is necessary to make Pala the gate way of Bharananganam and Kadappattoor Temple.But some people are against the establishment of  Pala railway station.On the contrary some others are thinking about its possibilities and its impacts on the society.Anyway it's a fact that if Pala railway station project is fullfilled it will be a boon to the society.
